State lawmakers pledge to address mental health crisis amid pandemic – News 12 Bronx

Connecticut lawmakers are promising to address a “mental health crisis” brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.

State House Speaker Matt Ritter said today that expanding mental health is his top priority this year.

Health providers say they’re seeing a huge spike in kids needing help but that agencies have long wait lists because they don’t have enough staff.

Experts say there aren’t enough mental health providers, especially those who speak Spanish, and that higher pay is needed for counselors.
