Northern Lights visible across world as storm ‘building’ – Diverse Bulletin

The coronal mass ejection (CME) hit Earth’s magnetic field on October 12 at approximately 03:30am. It sparked a G2-class geomagnetic storm that is now underway.

Space Watch Weather Prediction centre warned that the storm is classed as moderate, but even that can cause power grid fluctuations and high-latitude power systems may experience voltage alarms as the storm continues to build.

This could cause satellite orientation irregularities may occur; which could be devastating for billions on earth as fears of internet outages look like they could be possible as increased drag on low Earth-orbit satellites could occur.

The storm is now stil building and is expected to last until 16:00pm.
